Are you experiencing problems on Monumental Gaming's fabulous Sandbox server. Then you have come to the right place! This is a page intended to help those to conquer their unforeseen worry, heartbreaking complication, or even devastating problem. Note, this is just game play, technical issues. After a lot of research, and experiments myself, I bring you this:
The most common thing you must do is to verify your game files. When out of the game, in your Steam Library, right click your Garry's Mod game (The actual right handed, sidebar), click on properties, a menu should pop up, in the top bar make yourself into the Local Files tab, and then "Verify integrity of game cache". This should take care of problems with missing textures. If you have tried that continue below.
It may be a texture from a game or so. Be sure to install Team Fortress 2, since we have assets unlocked, Half Life 2, and Counter Strike: Source. If you are however poor and cannot afford these things, there is such a cheeky website called csscheater. Go on at your own risk, I am not doing a tutorial on that one. Half Life Episode 2 is also recommended, but optional and won't really, insanely change your game play, it's just those small textures. If you have those games and you run it fine congratulations. If you have those games and it's still has missing textures continue below.
So you have bought the games and it's still acting cheeky. Make sure they are installed. Now in game. You wan't to go down to the bottom right handed side of your screen. You should see a controller-look-a-like logo, icon. Click on it, it may take a while to load. These are all the games that will work with Garry's Mod, find the games that you own. Now tick the games that were listed previously. Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2, Counter Strike Source. They should all, instead of having an "X" or just a white square, be ticked with a tick symbol. Restart your Garry's Mod. Make sure to double check, do you have a new category of maps along the lines of Half Life 2, Counter Strike, and so on. Hope it's all fixed.
Missing Spawn Menu Thumbnails
Unsubscribe the addon from the Steam Workshop. And re-install. If that doesn't work, uninstall the addon from the Steam Workshop and continue down.
Find your Garry's Mod addons folder( Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons) Locate your addon and delete that file. Now for sure it's gone! Subscribe to the addon once more on the Steam Workshop. Start your Garry's Mod, the spawn menu thumbnails should reload again, and your prop models should do absolutely fine.
If it's the default props, that came with Garry's Mod, in your Steam Library, right click your Garry's Mod game (The actual right handed, sidebar), click on properties, a menu should pop up, in the top bar make yourself into the Local Files tab, and then "Verify integrity of game cache". If it isn't resolved continue down.
At absolute last resort, re-install your Garry's Mod.
First of all, to what I have read, Play X is currently incompatible with Apple Mac Computers, Mac Operating Systems.
Missing Plugin problem. Download (http://ziondevelopers.github.io/playx/flash_win.zip). Go through the installation process. Restart Steam, Garry's Mod. And it should do fine.
Video Playing Out of Range
Q Menu\Options\PlayX\Settings, Re-Check/Uncheck the "Only Play Videos Near Me". Adjust Video Radius (Range) Settings to your liking. Re-Connect to server. If that doesn't work continue down.
Unsubscribe PlayX from the Steam Workshop. Find your Garry's Mod addons folder( Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons) Locate your addon and delete the PlayX addon file. Subscribe to the addon once more on the Steam Workshop. Start your Garry's Mod, and everything should be fine.
PlayX Video and Audio
There is a adjustable volume setting in Q Menu\Options\PlayX\Settings. You can also enable/disable the PlayX, which will mute audio and disarm video.
Can't Join Server
The server you are trying to connect to is running a newer version of the game.
Quit Garry's Mod. Wait a few minutes for things to settle. The server has updated earlier than you. There is a high probability that Garry's Mod has an Update Queued, install the update and you should be done.
The server you are trying to connect to is running an older version of the game.
Quit Garry's Mod. Wait a few minutes for things to settle, wait for the server to restart and update, wait a nice 5 minutes or even more, reconnect. Everything should be fine! If the server still has a large population of people, it may take a while to update. Sit tight, none-the-less, you should be aight.
Frame Rate Issues
So you are playing the game and have noticed that your frame rate is terrible or has dropped significantly. This can mean one of lots of things so lets it get through it.
Verify your game files. Always the first thing you should ever do. When out of the game, in your Steam Library, right click your Garry's Mod game (The actual right handed, sidebar), click on properties, a menu should pop up, in the top bar make yourself into the Local Files tab, and then "Verify integrity of game cache".
Garry's Mod actually only runs on one core. Fascinating, I know right? ONE SINGLE CORE (unless you cheekily put in commands, don't do that unless you know what you are doing.)
Garry's Mod FPS can be, and or is, incredibly annoying. Even if you have the best of the best computer its the total size of the number of addons you have, the things you have on your screen, your HUD (such as the net_graph functions), your graphic settings, but most importantly these annoying FPS drops happen primarily due to just three things:
The Garry's Mod Map you are on (e.g a lot of rp maps, such as evocity tend to cause framerates to drop just because of its size). Another sub-contributor to the cause is the amount of people playing on the server, building spawning props etc. In simple words, Garry's Mod trades in your FPS to load in things from the game.
The total amount of addons can be a disadvantage to your total FPS in the game as well. It may sound stupid, but from experience clearing up unnecessary addons from your subscriptions does play a major role.
Graphical Settings, or the graphics of your game. Take a look especially at your different quality settings like Model detail, Texture detail, Shader detail, Water detail etc. Anitaliasing modes and especially resolution (the amount, matrix of pixels on your screen)
Test with the settings, see what is best optimized for you!
If that doesn't work try: updating your drivers, using game boosters like Razer Cortex, and using custom launch options. Just quickly search up the possible topics and you are good to go. Remember this is a guide. Good luck.
Suggestions and Feedback will and would be greatly appreciated and taken account to. This will hopefully be constantly updated.
